Everyone knows that on February 24, 2022, the aggressor country of Russia carried out a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, aiming to destroy an independent country and seize its lands.
Everyone knows that Ukraine has fought and is fighting for its independence and this tragic date will be forever engraved in its history.
On February 24, 2023, to mark the first anniversary of the invasion, the National Bank of Ukraine issued a commemorative 20-hryvnia banknote titled REMEMBER! WE WILL NOT FORGIVE!
It depicts Ukrainian soldiers with the flags of allies – those countries that did not abandon Ukraine in trouble and helped to resist the aggression. There is also a quote from Taras Shevchenko’s poem “And on the renewed land, there will be no enemy.” Ukraine has made its civilizational choice and will no longer be enslaved.
On the other side are intertwined hands, as if they were bound. This is a symbol of the enslavement and suffering of the Ukrainian people. This should not be forgotten.
